OUR NAME HAS A REASON
THE DISCOVERY
1492
A discovery is finding something that was previously unknown. One of the best known of this pastime was Christopher Columbus who, in 1492, discovered America, although technically it was Rodrigo de Triana, the lookout aboard the Pinta who coined the famous phrase TIEEEEERRA.
The story goes that none of this would have happened if Columbus had not first seen a flock of birds, namely Dominican Parrots, heading for land, but who discovered whom, Columbus the parrots, or the parrots Columbus? What we do know is that they arrived in a land so difficult to pronounce that they renamed it Hispaniola, also known as the República Dominicana.

THE FIRST TRIP…
The notary Fernando Mora made a great discovery on his leisure trip to the Dominican Republic. He “unwittingly” brought some anonymous bottles of rum back to Spain as a gift and as a souvenir of the flavours he had tasted and enjoyed there. Given that these first bottles arrived in our country without passing the legal customs controls, in recognition of this fact, they were given the name of CONTRABANDO to the import of this rum, already legally, by Luis Caballero S.A..
