July 7, 2017, Jerez, Spain. Sergio Martínez, Cellar Master at Bodegas Lustau was named “Best Fortified Winemaker” at the Awards Gala of the prestigious International Wine Challenge celebrated last night in London.
After more than 14 years in the House of Lustau, Sergio has led the winery’s oenological team since last summer. “I am enormously proud to be part of this team. This prize is recognition to each and every of us who work at Lustau” he stated after receiving the award.
Last night there was also room for remembrance of Manolo Lozano, Sergio’s predecessor and mentor. “I feel so blessed for having had Manolo’s guidance in my career. He was a great teacher and an extraordinary person. Always generous, creative and visionary. Thank you, Manolo, for showing me the way!”

This award is the crowning glory to the exceptional results obtained by Lustau in the 34th edition of the Challenge. With 48 medals, including 14 Golds, Lustau was the most awarded sherry producer and the most awarded European winery in the Challenge.
