Lustau Bodegas hosted the global launch of the latest edition of the renowned Irish Whiskey, Redbreast; the result of a long-standing partnership between Irish Distillers and Lustau
On 1 September, Bodegas Lustau in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, provided the venue for the world launch of Redbreast Lustau Edition Irish Whiskey.
The new Redbreast is a permanent addition to its range of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskeys. Initially aged for nine to twelve years in a combination of former Bourbon barrels and barrels which previously held Oloroso Sherry, Redbreast Lustau Edition spends an additional year in Spanish oak barrels seasoned with Lustau Oloroso. This further step provides a unique personality, marked by notes of red fruit, prunes, marzipan, a creamy mouthfeel and a long, sweet finish.
Redbreast Lustau Edition is the result of a long-standing partnership between Lustau Bodegas and Irish Distillers, a Pernod Ricard Group company and the world’s leading Irish Whiskey producer. The new whiskey is the result of several years’ work by Billy Leighton, Master Blender at Irish Distillers, and the recently deceased Manuel Lozano, the winemaker who earned Lustau its international prestige in the last two decades.
At the launch of Redbreast Lustau Edition release, Billy Leighton said that “for many years, we have worked closely with the team at Bodegas Lustau to procure the very finest Oloroso sherry casks used to mature whiskeys in the iconic Redbreast range. I am honoured to be able to finally reveal Redbreast Lustau Edition to the world as it represents the mutual bond, based on our commitment to excellence in craftsmanship, which we have built over time at Bodegas Lustau… The result is an exceptional new Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey that champions the iconic sherry influence of the Redbreast range.”
Pernod Ricard will be distributing Redbreast Lustau Edition in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland and France, at a price of about €70.
